HISTORY

Founded in 1970 by Lee R. Hardwick.  Mr. Hardwick had previous experience as an earth moving contractor and equipment manufacturer.

The Company manufacturing plant is located 30 miles southwest of Kansas City at the New Century Air Center (Olathe, Kansas).  Manufacturing facilities consist of indoor production areas including shipping, light assembly, light fabrication, machine shop, heavy fabrication, and heavy assembly areas.  Additional facilities  consist of administration, parts warehouse, and engineering. 

The engineering department is highly specialized, dedicated to provide the ultimate product, utilizing Computer Aided Design (C.A.D. System).

Product History

Beginning in 1970, Royal manufactured specialized hauling equipment, used primarily in the steel, aluminum, and primary metals industries.  The machines handle products such as molten receptacles, slag, coils, slabs, palletized materials, and scrap containers, capacities range from 25 tons to 400 tons. 

In 1984, Royal began production of cushion tire lift trucks, acquired under a license with Caterpillar, with 16,500 to 30,000 pound capacities.  Today Royal manufactures internal combustion (Gas, LP, Diesel) cushion tire models from 16,500 lbs. to 100,000 lbs.

In 1991, Royal introduced its electric battery powered lift trucks.  Today capacities of electric trucks range from 15,000 lbs. to 40,000 lbs.  In 1992, Royal introduced its pneumatic tired, lift truck family.  Today pneumatic truck capacities range from 25,000 lbs. to 110,000 lbs.

In 1998, Royal introduced the Rig-N-LiftTM, Mobile Rigging Equipment, featuring Hydraulic extending chassis, variable capacities and hydraulic vertical extending boom.  Capacities range from 25,000 lbs. to 100,000 lbs extended.*
